Aug 24 - Bath, (was that Maine or Pennsylvania? No it’s England)

We started out real lazy today. After procrastinating and getting the laundry going, we finally left around noon. Took the bus into Bath, then started walking toward the River Avon to do some sightseeing, but along the way we got hungry. Stopped at Garrick’s Head and Lilia had Fish & Chips. Boring me just had a hamburger.
At the time the food was very good. We paid the price in the evening. Too greasy. Oh well, guess we have to take the waters and some of Dr. Oliver's biscuits. 18th century prescription by a local quack to cure all sorts of ailments.

When done, we continued wandering toward the river. Along the way, Lilia spotted a Hotter Shoe store and bought a nice pair of shoes.
Indeed! Count your blessings my precious husband. I didn't buy half the shop. 😁😁
When we got to the river we found a great little park/garden (Royal Victoria Park, to be exact) that we could wander in. It is very well kept.
We saw a few wedding parties having their pictures taken there.
The most striking were the African in beautiful aquamarine traditional attire and the Indian, in a combination of light beige and burgundy.

We were then off toward Pulteney Bridge and the shops on it.

Then we found a boat ride on the River Avon that we just had to take. It lasted about an hour and was nice and peaceful. And we did not sink any of the canoeists out there with us.

After walking further along the river, we decided to head on back via the city streets. Along the way Lilia found a store to get some cosmetics and I composed and sent a postcard to Paula in Madrid. We also had finally sent some greeting cards and post cards earlier in the day that we had in our possession for a week or so.

  1. It's funny, I had never heard of Hotter shoes until 5 days ago, when we were visiting with my sister and she mentioned their catalogue to me. I just looked them up online this morning (before reading your blog). Sounds like you are having a fabulous time! Lois

    1. We are Lois. Just saw your comment here in Edinburgh. In about two weeks we will be getting on the boat to return. Next is London, then Dover where we board the boat. Looking forward to seeing you again.
