HMY Britannia on 31/08/2019

Lagged a bit in the morning, but had tickets for the HMY (Her Majestyu’s Yacht) Britannia. It has been retired for a few years now and is now a tourist attraction.

We got there around 9:30. It is at the Ocean Terminal. There is also a shopping mall there. An absolutely beautiful experience. Queen Elizabeth II really knows how to live. Too bad they don’t use it anymore. It’s over 400 feet long and had a crew of over 200. It was decommissioned on December 11, 1997.

Then we went to the Royal Deck Tea Room onboard and had a delicious luncheon.
Next, we were off to that shopping mall I mentioned.

Lilia got some new clothes and I watched. They have a roller rink and a skateboard rink there, along with many other physical activities for the young adults.
Came home kind of early and relaxed, had supper, played cribbage and went to bed.

Day One in Edinburgh - 30/08/2019

Day started out with very windy weather and a little raining.
As I was in the kitchen making coffee, saw some movement in the back yard It was a Red fox. He was foraging in the yard. He hung around for a short time, then left through the hedgerow. Too dark to get a good photo.

We caught the bus to Waverly Place to catch the hop-on-hop-off bus. Got on and enjoyed an hour ride around the city with commentary.

Got off that one and had lunch, then walked around and decided to hop-on a different route that the same company offered.
That tour took an hour also so when we got off, we did some exploring and found a couple scarves and a few other things for our friends.
We also stopped by St. Giles Cathedral for a look-see.

After wandering for awhile, the rain started getting heavier so we decided to head back. Had a little trouble figuring out which bus to take, but it all worked out.
Got home, sat down and worked out what we will do the rest of the time in Edinburgh. Got tickets on-line for tomorrow and Sunday.
Had some supper and while Lilia was putting the dishes in the sink for me to wash, she spied the fox. He was passing through again. Then she saw another and that one followed the first one.
Raining harder now.

The trip to Edinburgh

Just thought I would put these few photos out there.
Trip was uneventful, except for track changes and a free upgrade to 1st Class.
Weather in Edinburgh was windy and sunny and cloudy and warm and cold, all at the same time!
Look at the amount of luggage. Think we travel light? And that does not include my Lamborghini.

A Ferry Cross the Mersey, a U-Boat and more of the Beatles.

Bright and early this morning we went to the harbor side to catch a boat ride on the Mersey Ferry.

Now that you have heard it, here is the Ferry Cross the Mersey website.
One of the stops along the way was where they had a dissected U-Boat on display. It was so interesting. They even had a couple enigma decoders on display.

Upon return to the Pier Head Liverpool ferry terminal, we decided we needed more of the Beatles. Well, actually Lilia did, so we went to the Beatle Story museum on Albert Dock. MORE information about the Fab 4. I became 'Beatled’ out! I think I was exposed to more data about them than I know
about myself.

Went back to the hotel and a little later went out for a walk. While walking, found a nice restaurant named Ginos. The food was delicious.
Packed for trip to Edinburgh.
