Some Notes I Found

First I must say that it was one of the most exciting and thrilling four months I (we) have ever had. This European adventure brought us even closer together (as if that were even possible). The excitement we shared was beautiful!

Now, to the reason I am adding this post. I had decided that since I couldn't add anything to the blog while underway from England to New York (no wifi), I would just write things down. After a couple days (Sept 15th through Sept 20th, to be exact), I read what I was writing and I thought the notes were becoming repetitive, so I stopped taking notes.
Today, I decided that, since I did write them, I would put them in the blog. Your choice whether to read thm or not.

Added 1/3/2020. Cruise ship to California via Panama Canfal leaves tomorrow: Check out our blog for this trip:

"Sept 15 - Go to Deal, UK
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deal,_Kent
at the invite of Kathryn & John, our AirBnB hosts. Went to St. George church
https://www.stgdeal.org/
for an outdoor service and street fair. Great service and great fair. Met the granddaughters. After the service had coffee and donut. Had to return the car to Enterprise before 1 pm. Did so and they gave us a ride to the ship. Boarding ship went smoothly and we departed at 4:30 pm. It was a sunny day. Got to our room 7630 and Lilia unpacked and we went to the Rapunzel Room for supper at 6 pm. Met our table mates Dave & Toni from England and Kim and William from western PA. After supper went to the opening show at 8:45 in the Disney Theater. Good introduction show.
Sept 16 - Monday. Got up to watch us dock at Portland, UK. After eating breakfast, took the shuttle to Portland and wandered the streets and bought souvenirs. Had some food and coffee along the street. Came back and had supper in the Lumiere room. Went to the Disney theater and saw a group called JUNNK
https://www.junnk.co.uk/
who played drums and put on a show. Met Princess Tiana later.
Sept 17 - Arrive in Cobh near Cork, in Ireland. Again, we opted to take the shuttle to Cork. Did I mention that we saw a couple dolphins jumping alongside the ship? Anyway, we were not too impressed with Cork. It was just an old city that needed modernizing. Bought some more gifts and clothing for me and Lilia. Back to the ship for supper in the Animation Palate room. Went to the Disney Theater and saw an illusionist act. It was good. Then went outside for awhile and off to the room.
Sept 18 - Wednesday - At sea. Lilia went in the pool Weather was partly sunny and 62 deg. I met her there. We then returned to room and changed and went to lunch.Back to room to change for formal night. Looked at available activities and went to animation class.
Animation class was ok. Drew Scar the bad lion. Supper was back in the Rapunzel dining room. They had a pirate theme and Rapunzel came in and visited and said hi. Went to the show and saw a broadway style show.
19th - Thursday - Awoke not feeling too good. Sore throat and cough. Had fruit for breakfast, then we played cribbage until the animation art class began. We drew Mickey, then we started on Goofy The young lady who led us was Maria from Mexico. Almost forgot; due to hurricane Humberto, we will not stop anywhere in Canada as we will head south and around the bottom of the hurricane. We will arrive in NYC a day early and spend the night on the ship.
I went exploring. Checked out the exterior decks & the 3rd & 4th floor to see what was going on. Then went to the Spa area and worked on this. Again, forgot to mention, went to the infirmary and bought some cold medicine. Met Lilia when she completed the foot analysis (really just a sales gimmick). Then we played a round of cribbage and off to another animation class. This time we drew Mickey and Goofy. Next came supper in the Lumiere dining room. Theme was Frozen, but Donald Duck and the Chipmunks (Chip and Dale) also showed.
Friday the 20th - Got out of the room and went to have breakfast. Then off to the hat making project. Met Ariel and had pictures with her. Then to the noon veterans gathering and met two nice couples. One from Oregon and the other from Idaho. After that, went to the pool where Lilia was lounging in the sun (and wind) but I found a place in the sun and out of the wind. Saw flying fish this morning from our veranda.

Well, that is all I wrote freehand and then I figured it was becoming too repetitive so I stopped.
Our greatest appreciation to all who read parts or all of this blog.
Jerry & Lilia
P.S. On January 4th 2020, we are embarking on another adventure from New York City through the Panama Canal to San Francisco, California, with stops in Curacao, Columbia, Costa Rica, Mexico and California. I will put the name of that blog in this blog.

Disney Magic Sept 15 - 25th

In the morning we went to the street fair and outdoor church service we were invited to in Deal, England. Both were very nice and if we lived in England, we would have bought so much. The outdoor church service was great as they included the youth with the adults throughout the service.
Drove back to the Enterprise lot and returned the car. They gave us a ride to the ship.
Our room was beautiful with a full balcony (they call it a veranda) and the goodies I had pre-ordered. There were Disney stalactites (for lack of a better word) and a bottle of fine champagne. We settled in and had a glass of the bubbly. Then we explored the ship. What an awesome place. It is Walt Disney World on the sea.
Got underway around 4:30.
As one would expect, the North Atlantic is a bit chilly and windy in September, but Lilia went swimming a couple times and we read along side the pool often.
For supper, the way they do it, you, your table mates and all the staff go to a different restaurant three days in a row, then you start over. We started in the Rapunzel Dining room, then the next evening on to the Luminiere Dining room

and then the Animators Tablet Dining Room. It was a great idea and they occasionally had shows in these rooms during dinner. Rapunzel and various other characters often came to the Rapunzel Dining Room.
We stopped at Plymouth England, Cork Ireland, and we were supposed to stop in St. John’s and Halifax Canada but hurricane Humberto was coming up the coast and we went around it straight to NYC. Got to NYC a day early and had a night onboard in the nicest hotel in NYC. Lilia and I went into the city that day and we ended up purchasing another suitcase for the dirty laundry.
Back to the ship in time for our last meal with our newfound table friends.
Now I will talk about the cruise. The first port was Portland. Some folks took a tour to Stonehenge but, since we had already been there, we took the shuttle into Weymouth. Had a nice time exploring in a nice town.
Then off to Cork. Again, took the shuttle. I have to say that it is a rundown town. We did some more souvenir shopping.
Then out to sea for our next stop in St. John’s Canada, but along the way, the captain had determined that we would run into very rough seas because of the hurricane so he altered course south to go around it. Of course we had to forgo the Canada stops.

The rest of the cruise was uneventful, although some rock & rolling and strong winds at times. Lilia had found a place on-board where they actually had coffee that had some coffee in it, so every morning I would go get us some. They had great shows in the evening and Disney characters wandering all the time for photo-ops.
We attended animation class and drew Mickey, Steamboat Willy, Pluto and Scar. Remember, Mickey is a few circles and ovals! The man who is the voice of Mickey was on board and he gave seminars and animation demonstrations. He used to be an animator.
Lilia and I saw a couple Dolphin

and some flying fish.
Departure from the ship went very smoothly and we met Maria and Elliott on the street corner. Apparently they don’t allow pickups near the ships anymore.
