Saturday the 14th in Dover

Just be aware that from the 15th to the 25th we will probably be out of internet range so there may not be any updates during that time.
The UK is currently experiencing Climate Change protests in London and they will soon move to Canterbury. Then on the 21st they will blockade the streets and port where all the shipping takes place in Dover. Looks like we just missed all these events. Whew.

Today was laundry day in preparation of our 10 day cruise on the Disney Magic.
One more day in Dover to wander around.

It was an absolutely beautiful day to be outside. We went downtown, parked the car and started exploring. First was a store to get some drugs and found most of what we wanted.
While wandering, ran to some men from up north who were here for the football game and were having some pre-game beer at the local pub across the street from where we were sitting. The match was Dover vs Chorley and the final score was 1-1.

Then decided to head on down to the harbor/waterfront/beach and enjoy the fresh air and sea breeze. The beach is actually pebbles instead of sand. Not pleasant to walk on (hurt a lot!). I will describe the rocks as like those river stone that you can buy for your landscape, but of all different sizes.

Hung out and dipped our toes in the English Channel,

hurt our feet on the beach “rocks”, had an ice cream and just sat around and absorbed our last full day in Europe.
Talked with various locals.
Decided it was time to leave and go to Smuggler’s Pub for supper, but Lilia saw an Indian restaurant named Cinnamon Island, so we ate there. It was delicious.

Got back to the bungalow about 7pm and continued getting ready for the boat.
Did I forget to mention that the owner of this bungalow has invited us to a church function tomorrow morning. I have to have the car back to Enterprise by 1 pm. It may be close.

  1. I presume you're on board by now. Have a great voyage. We'll all be happy to see your smiling faces when you return. Those white cliffs of Dover, and so much of England, are grand to see. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime! Many memories to carry home with you. Our best, Ken and Lois

    1. Thank you Ken & Lois. It was a great trip and so much fun. Also the street fair and outdoor church service were nice. Good to be back, but ready to go again after only two days.
