Canterbury for a day

We went to Canterbury today to go to ‘The Canterbury Tales” exhibit and the Canterbury Cathedral. It was a nice ride, but the car’s navigation system took us right onto a pedestrian way. We were on that for awhile, thank goodness no police showed up, but many people gave us dirty looks and said some nasty things. Eventually got out of that and found a parking garage. Whew!
Located the Canterbury Tales venue and prepared for that. They say it is wheelchair accessible, but I’m not sure how. Maybe part of it is. It was a fun exhibit with live actors and some recorded data. Good synopsis of a few of Chauser’s Cantuerbury Tales.
Then we went to Canterbury Cathedral and had the audio tour. A quite beautiful cathedral.

Did you know that Thomas Becket was killed here? Do you know who Thomas Becket is?

Noticed that there was going to be a Choral Evensong at 5:30 and decided to be there for that

Went and had a meal then to get some sustenance and then returned for the Evensong. Of course it was a beautiful service. I didn’t know, but mom recorded this covertly.

After the service we decided to head for home. Found the car in the car park and loaded the scooter through the 5th door. Started to drive (mind you we were the ONLY car in the car park at that time of day) and an attendant yelled at us so we stopped moving and he walked over and closed the tailgate. This would have surely have hit a beam in the parking lot and done some damage. Our thanks to him for being there.
Uneventful trip home.
